Tinnitus Management Programme
We can help you manage your tinnitus using a range of management options which are tailored to your personal needs. Our aim is to equip you with the knowledge, information, technology and skills to manage the impact of tinnitus on your overall quality of life.
Firstly we allow 2 hours for the initial appointment so that you can feel relaxed and have the time to share your concerns. We also complete a full diagnostic assessment of your hearing and carry out baseline measurements of your tinnitus distress. We then carefully explain your hearing test results to you using pictures and diagrams to make it easy for you to understand the results. Finally we discuss the mechanisms underlying tinnitus so that you can get a good understanding of how tinnitus is generated and heard within in the brain. Once we have completed this process we then design a tinnitus management programme tailored to your needs.
This may include the use of:
- Fitting of hearing devices
- Sound therapy
- Counselling based on Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles
- Relaxation techniques
