What can you expect from a consultation and hearing aid fitting?
• Firstly a detailed history of your hearing health is taken and the difficulties you are having with you hearing are discussed.
• Next the ears are examined and a full diagnostic hearing assessment is carried out to measure your hearing sensitivity.
• The results are explained to you using diagrams of the ear so that you completely understand your hearing profile.
• If the test results indicate that you would benefit from hearing aids, then you will be given a realistic idea of what to expect.
• We will then discuss how to best match the type of hearing aids to your hearing needs taking into account the style and make of the hearing aids you prefer.

Hearing aids are complex and advanced instruments. They need to be carefully programmed and fitted to your ears, taking into account many factors such as your type of hearing loss, your degree of hearing loss, and your auditory lifestyle. It can be viewed as a prescription of sound energy to treat hearing loss. If sound is not correctly prescribed then the hearing instruments may not provide the correct amount of sound required to reduce the impact of the hearing loss. Hearing instruments are a big investment so it is important to take the time to carefully fit and programme the devices so that they give optimum benefit and improve the listening experience.

Follow up appointments are essential to support you as you get used to wearing the hearing aids. These appointments are also important because the sound prescription will need to be gradually increased as your auditory system adjusts to amplified sound. If, after your trial period you are not satisfied with your new hearing aids, then you can return them to us and we will give you a refund.
